What inspired you to pursue writing?

I’ve loved writing since I was little. Whether I was coming up with an intricate story, reporting on an event, or even recording my day-to-day life, I was always happiest when writing. The fact that I get to write all day every day now and call it a job is a dream come true!

What do you love most about the work you do?

The fact that my writing can help inspire children around the world to learn about the wonders of the planet that we live on is pretty amazing.

What was your first job? Was it related to the work that you do now?

My first job after leaving university was writing articles and reviews for a local magazine. I loved getting stuck in with researching a topic, then writing a thought-out piece on it. Writing non-fiction books was the perfect, most incredible next step!

 

What’s your favourite thing to do in your free time, outside of work? Any hobbies or other interests?

I love reading, both fiction and non-fiction books, and going for long walks along the beach with my husband, searching for washed-up treasure and watching the sea sparkle.

 

Did you like reading as a child? If so, do you have a favourite children’s book?

Yes; I’ve had my head stuck in books since I was very young! The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter was one of my all-time favourites.
